RIVER AND OCEAN FISHING

Alaska’s vast ocean and abundant rivers allow for excellent fishing. Throughout the summer, many salmon runs feed tributaries with millions of fish swimming upstream to mate and die in the eternal cycle of life in Alaska. Armed with a rod and lures, you can easily catch your limit everyday and enjoy the thrill of catching these majestic fish. Ocean fishing for human-sized Halibuts is very exciting as well. All fish can be packed up and sent home for you and your friends.

WHALE WATCHING/GLACIER TOURS

These are some of the most popular activities while in Alaska. The seasonal migration of whales allows visitors to travel by boat to see these majestic creatures breaching the surface as they breathe. Some visitors get to see small calves and their mothers as they migrate to feed. Visitors can also watch as colossal pieces of ice break off the lower ends of enormous ice fields into the ocean.

WHITEWATER RAFTING/KAYAKING

Alaska offers a variety of whitewater rivers scattered throughout the state. Some of the best rivers in the world meander through the peaks and valleys of Alaska. Difficulty ranges from scenic wildlife floats to 12-day river expeditions offering unmatched rugged mountain scenery past calving glaciers. Rivers such as the Tatshenshini and the Alsek run for hundreds of miles. Smaller rivers such as Six-mile Creek or the Nenana River offer shorter trips for those willing to dip their toes into adventure rafting. One of our favorites is the Talkeetna River where we do 3- and 4-day trips that move through the longest continuous section of whitewater in North America. Options are available from mild to wild.

BIRD AND WILDLIFE WATCHING

Wildlife viewing in Alaska is an unforgettable experience. With so few people living in the wilderness of Alaska, animals are the masters of their domain. On our trips we regularly see grizzly bears, wolves, Dall sheep, caribou, and moose. The most impressive bird in Alaska is the bald eagle. Depending on our location, we see many water birds and ptarmigan. We always have a few pairs of binoculars and ID books with us on all of our trips, but some locations have built-in bird outings. Options include the Denali Park Wildlife tour or even a visit to Kodiak Island to see the bears feeding on the yearly salmon runs. Depending on your interest and desires, we customize your trip for an incredible wildlife experience.

BUSH PLANE TOURS

The vast space in Alaska and the limited accessibility of many villages and towns creates a culture where it is easier to fly most places than drive. Anchorage has the largest float-plane base in the world, and there are more pilots licenses in Alaska than there are drivers licenses. Many of our adventure activities use bush planes and float planes as transport. We visit isolated villages by plane which are inaccessible by road. We fly all of our gear and clients into the wilderness for excellent river trips. In Denali, we take a flight-seeing tour around Mt. McKinley, the highest peak in North America.

CULTURAL SIGHTS AND SOUNDS

Alaska is the newest and most adventurous state in America. Years of rugged individualism have fostered a population that is almost as wild as the nature and mountains in Alaska. Indigenous people and their culture and tradition have survived in many of the local communities, and tours are available to some of the more remote villages. Oil development and the Alaska pipeline have helped bring in outside development and influence, but the history and pride of the Alaskan people keep a sense of preservation and protection throughout the state. We include cultural activities on all of our tours to this grand state.

SEA KAYAKING

Paddlers can explore the coastline and private inland rivers. While sea kayaking one can view calving glaciers crashing in the ocean, whales and seals from sea. We design trips to some remote inlets on the coast and paddle around floating icebergs. We also arrange long canoe trips on the calmer rivers in Alaska. No matter what your experience or fitness level, we find the right adventure for you.

HIKING/TREKKING

There are many options for both short and long hikes in Alaska. With a land mass over twice the size of Texas and numerous National Parks and wilderness areas, hiking in Alaska can be one of the most rewarding trips. Some hikes lead up to the base of large glaciers and others explore the amazing solitude of Alaska. We set up any length of hike that you desire. Some of our most popular hikes are in Denali National Park and on the Kenai Peninsula.

CAMPING

There are many camping opportunities in Alaska. Denali National Park is a great area for experiencing the true Alaskan outdoors. Camping is a part of our multi-day river trips into Talkeetna and on the Tatshenshin/Alsek River expeditions. We supply all the tents, stoves, pads and sleeping bags for these adventures.

MOUNTAIN BIKING

Alaska has some long and isolated trails and roads best seen by bike. We have many mountain biking options to suit travelers’ needs. Our favorite is biking the road into Denali over 2 or 3 days with gorgeous passes and incredible wildlife. There are also new heli-biking options in some areas of Alaska.

OTHER EXCITING ACTIVITIES

Different regions of Alaska offer exciting opportunities for the adventurous traveler. We happily arrange activities such as glacier trekking, Iditarod kennel tours, climbing excursions, sled-dog tours and many more.
