On this customized, private adventure you will visit Hindu and Buddhist temples virtually unchanged over the last 500 years. Your trekking will take you through some of the most beautiful valleys in the world, followed by warm and cheery accommodations with homemade food and excellent hospitality—all of this with an Adventures Around the World guide helping you to understand the culture and experience that Nepal has to offer.
17-Day Itinerary:
Days 1& 2: Travel Day. Full day of travel from the United States to Nepal.
Day 3: Arrive at Tribuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. After clearing customs you will be met by your guide and transported to your hotel by our private AAW shuttle. You will have the afternoon to settle in and then enjoy dinner provided by AAW.
Day 4: Explore Kathmandu, Palace Square and Swayambunath. After a healthy breakfast, we will depart by private van to visit the amazing Palace Square and the Swayambhunath temples. With our experience living and working in Nepal, we will also transport you to community development projects making crafts and working to empower the Nepalis to control their own destiny.
Day 5: Morning flight to the Everest Region to begin your trek to Phakding (8,300 ft.) After a leisurely breakfast, AAW will transport you to Tribuvan Airport for a flight to Lukla in the Everest Region.
Day 6: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (11,300 ft.). After breakfast you will depart from Phakding for the famed sherpa village of Namche Bazaar.
Day 7: Acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. An early morning hike will help your body adjust to the altitude as we hike a few thousand feet higher and then return to Namche for an afternoon of relaxation.
Day 8: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (12,887 ft.). Breakfast in Namche and then trekking to the incredible Tengboche Monastery as we climb closer and closer to Everest.
Day 9: Tenboche to Dingboche (14,250 ft.)
After breakfast we will continue past Dobuche and then up again for two nights in Dingboche.
Day 10: Acclimatization hike to the Chhukung valley. Healthy breakfast and then an acclimatization hike up the Chhukung valley towards Island peak.
Day 11: Dingboche to Lobuche with a day hike to Gorak Shep (16,175 ft.). After breakfast, we will hike up the valley to Lobuche for our last night before reaching the Kkumbu glacier at the base of Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest). Afternoon hike for acclimatization to Gorak Shep.
Day 12: Lobuche to Gorak Shep and the Everest Base Camp (17,775 ft.) Early breakfast and then departure for Gorak Shep, where we will drop off our bags and then climb up to the Everest Base Camp for a view of Sagarmatha.
Day 13: Gorak Shep to Kala Patar to Pangboche (17,000 ft.). Healthy breakfast and then a beautiful hike up to Kala Patar and then descent to Panboche for the evening where we will explore the activities and history that makes this location so amazing.
Day 14: Pangboche to Khumjung Valley. After breakfast, we will start hiking back down the valley towards Khumjung. We will hike down the glacial valley and then re-enter the green world of the lower elevations. Throughout our hike down we will enjoy amazing views and have plenty of time for photographs.
Day 15: Khumjung Valley to Monjo. Another relaxing breakfast and then a hike farther down the valley to Monjo. Our return to Monjo will take us once again past the Dudh Khosi River, winding through small Sherpa villages and past small temples.
Day 16: Monjo to Lukla. Breakfast in Monjo and then a hike to Lukla for an early afternoon arrival and relaxation before our flight out the next morning. Once again arriving at Lukla, this time we will be preparing to depart off of the steep Lukla Airport. You will have a final dinner at a local restaurant and time for some last minute shopping before leaving the next morning.
Day 17: Flight to Kathmandu from Lukla; Boudanath Temple. After breakfast, we will have an early morning departure for Kathmandu to settle into our hotel and explore for one last day. Your last day in Kathmandu will be spent visiting the Boudanath Temple and shopping at one of the many crafts and artist shops in town. Evening will be at Rumdoodles for your farewell dinner.
Day 18: Explore the Floating Markets, Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. After an early breakfast, you will be picked up for a private tour of the famous floating markets of Bangkok in the morning and then the majestic Wat Pho and Grand Palace in the afternoon.
Day 19: Free day in Bangkok and return flight to U.S.A. After a leisurely breakfast, you will have the morning free to explore the surrounding area. Many great optional activities are available in Bangkok for your enjoyment. In the early afternoon, you will take a private shuttle to the Airport for your return flight home.
